Parking notes:

At this time of day , the closest parking is street parking. Meters operate on Main Street and S. Washington. There are metered lots on Shore Road behind Dolphin Bookshop and there is a parking at the Town Dock, just a few blocks from the theater.

The Library lot is off limits, as is the Residents’ lot around the building itself. The Landmark parking lot on Main Street is off limits at that time due to the Childrens Center drop-off.

Kara Alaimo, Assistant Professor of Public Relations at Hofstra University, will discuss how social media and other new technology were used in the 2016 presidential election – including President Trump’s use of Twitter and the role of hackings, psychographics obtained from social media, “filter bubbles” and fake news. She will discuss how businesses need to prepare to address new vulnerabilities such as hackings, fake news and Twitter attacks.


Kara Alaimo, Ph.D. is Assistant Professor of Public Relations at Hofstra University and author of Pitch, Tweet, or Engage on the Street: How to Practice Global Public Relations and Strategic Communication. A former communicator at the United Nations and in the Obama administration, she now develops PR campaigns for clients such as the United Nations and organizes employee trainings for companies on how to adapt messages and strategies for different global markets. Almost everyone will acknowledge the importance of analytics in understanding how their social profiles are doing, which is great! Where most people get lost however, is finding out the “so what” and what to do with it.

This talk will be exploring how to make insights & analytics more actionable to your business, as well as explore some ways that the practice is progressing in helping brands and agencies come up with data-driven creative campaigns.


Chris Ee is the lead digital & social analyst in NYC for The Marketing Arm (Part of Omnicom), an integrated digital agency where he works on accounts such as Mars Chocolate, Wrigleys & 3M. Apart from consumer package goods, he has also worked on Telco, Consumer Electronics and Travel & Hospitality brands.

Chris has 6+ years of experience across E-commerce, SEO, SEM in both analytics & strategy roles, and aims to bring pragmatic insights across paid, owned, and earned media channels.
